The Cowichan Exhibition is excited to bring the “UN”FAIR back to the Cowichan Valley this fall! Building on our experiences from last year, the goal of “UN”FAIR-21 is to bring the community together again, while safely staying apart.
This year’s theme is “Follow the Yellow Brick Road”. During the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy, the Lion, the Scarecrow and the Tin Man face a lot of adversity on their journey to get to the Emerald City. Similar parallels can be drawn now – we have faced a lot of adversity during this pandemic. Right now, we are staying the course (on the “yellow brick road”) by following the orders from the Provincial Health Office, in hopes that it will all end soon!
“Follow the Yellow Brick Road” brings a message of hope and resiliency for our community. The story is uplifting in a time when encouragement and perseverance is needed most. We will get through this – the Emerald City awaits!
“UN”FAIR-21 will be held September 18th & 19th and the colours for the Challenge Classes will be Emerald (green) and Sapphire (blue). We have been brainstorming some new ideas for theme classes including: a heart for the Tin Man, ruby red slippers, scarecrow with a mask, decorate a wand and sew and dress for Dorothy.
As COVID vaccinations continue to roll out, we have no idea what the restrictions will be like in September. However, the Cowichan Exhibition is committed to taking whatever measures are necessary to provide a safe environment for the “UN”FAIR-21, just as we did last year.
2021 is the 153rd year of the Cowichan Exhibition. The fair is a long-standing family tradition in the Cowichan Valley that we love! While things might not be back to normal just yet, “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” to the Cowichan Exhibition’s “UN”FAIR-21. We look forward to safely welcoming you back!
